Naughty Dog has confirmed that it will not implement a character progression system in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, explaining the hotly anticipated action-adventure sequel is sticking firmly to its roots.

The studio was asked by PlayM (via SegmentNext) at Gamescom 2015 last week if it considered going down a similar path to The Last of Us, in the sense that the game utilized a progression system for its main protagonist.

In response, Naughty Dog Community Manager, Arne Meyer, confirmed that Nathan Drake's final outing will be adhering to the series template, and that a progression system would only disrupt the flow of Uncharted 4. The Last of Us is a more methodical, slower paced romp, while Uncharted is more action-packed with faster gameplay.
