hindi mo naman kelangan sumama dun. kahit sa church ka lang o sa bahay mag dasal. ang importante, mag dasal at mag reflect sa mga kasalanan at sikapin pagbutihin ang buhay.
tama ito. pati yung abstinence and fasting. hindi lang naman sa food yan eh. it's actually abstaining from material wants. sacrificing. kaya kami nung kapatid ko. buong Holy Week as in Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, NO PS3, NO PC. (buti na lang wala kaming internet nun kaya hindi nakakatempt hehe) tapos nung Good Friday prusisyon kami kasi talagang way of offering lang namin yun. :agree:

Holy Week is a time of reflection. hindi talaga namin nakagawian yung pag Holy Week nagbabakasyon. talagang prayers lang and silence. umaalis lang kami pag nag visita iglesia kami ng Maundy Thursday sa ibang place around the city or sa ibang province. :agree:

I agree with you pero may symbolism din ang giving up meat during Lent. because Christ gave up His flesh for us, therefore we give up flesh din.

fasting is a very fascinating thing. ngayon ko lang napapagaralan ang meaning at value niya. dapat talaga may mga spiritual director tayo who would guide us through fasting regimens para may spiritual growth tayo sa pag fasting natin

ayun actually sinusunod namin yung giving up meat pag Good Friday. dati hindi ko gaano nararamadaman yung hirap nung pagsacrifice nun since gusto ko naman ang fish and seafood. eh nung last Good Friday, gutom talaga ako nun tapos Fasting pa tapos napagod nung prusisyon, hahanap hanapin mo rin pala yung meat :ashamed: pero sacrifice lang talaga

ang hindi namin religiously naprapractice ay yung abstinence sa meat every Friday during lent. ginawa lang namin yun nung Good Friday :?

ayun tanong ko lang sir Choy or kung sino man makasagot.

kailangan ba talaga gawin yung Abstinence sa meat every Friday of Lent or kahit Good Friday lang? and

ano talaga yung proper way of Fasting? (like isang meal lang a a day, etc)

thanks! God bless :agree:

Abstinence is observed on all fridays of Lent which also includes Good Friday and on Ash Wednesday. It is to be followed by all who are of age 14 and above...

Fasting just means one meal a day and is observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. It is to be followed by all who are in the age range of 18 - 59...

I forgot the exact name of the book (it's by Pope Paul ??) but the rules of fasting and abstinence were recommended to be done voluntarily... works of charity can be substituted also according to that book...

when you say one meal a day, as in isang beses ka lang kakain or kahit isang meal pero paonti onti sa buong araw? kumbaga snacks lang lagi. parang hinati yung meal sa buong araw. pwede ba yung ganun?

actually, abstinence is to be done on all Fridays, except Fridays that a Solemnity falls under (such as the Feast of the Annunciation, or today being the first week of Easter). now all Fridays of Lent can be substituted with a charitable act

mahirap talaga fasting! pero diyan mag grow ang spirituality mo. when you hunger, instead of calling for food, call on Jesus. it helps you to realize that you depend on God, not on food or anything else.

the Church mandates that fasting be done pag Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. failure to do so is a mortal sin of disobedience to the Church. and yet what is legislated is not too hard. one full meal and two small meals would be counted as Fasting in the Roman Catholic Church. Abstinence is giving up meat. and its also legislated for all Fridays of Lent.

that is the bare minimum legislated by the Church

Do you know that Eastern monks will totally not eat anything on Good Friday and Holy Saturday? Easter Sunday na sila uli kakain after the received Communion on Easter Sunday morning.

ang legislation ng Church for Roman Catholics is two small meals (like merienda. half a sandwich or one small donut is one small meal) and one full meal. meaning regular meal mo.

I don't know what country does that last part apply to but in the US, the bishops have talked and agreed about substitution of charitable acts on all fridays outside of Lent.

Blessed John Paul II, pray for us.

:agree: tama. what's important is yung beatification mismo.

tsaka nagkataon lang din kasi maraming world events na sunod sunod in just a week. Royal wedding, then Beatification of John Paul II, then ngayon patay na daw si Bin Laden. lol
