“In ages past, the world of Spira experienced a golden age of perfection, brought about by an advanced civilization through the use of wondrous machinery called machina.
However, around one thousand years before the present day, a colossal menace known only as "Sin" appeared and sundered all before it. Though a line of summoners have since brought Sin low many times, it inevitably returns in an unending cycle of destruction. In the face of this ever-pervasive threat, the people of Spira flocked to the teachings of Yevon, which tell that Sin is a punishment to those who relied overly on machina.
Tidus is a young Blitzball star that mysteriously finds himself in Spira after his home city of Zanarkand is destroyed by Sin one thousand years in the past. Believing Sin to be the key to returning home, Tidus joins a young summoner named Yuna on her pilgrimage to destroy Sin and bring about the Calm.â€

Announcement
It was announced at the Sony Press Conference in Japan on September 14th, 2011 as part of a 10th anniversary special, and was released on December 26th, 2013 in Japan, and is scheduled to be released on March 2014 outside Japan. The compilation is based on the International version of both games.
New Features
The games contain improved maps and character models and textures as well as improved lighting, shadowing and enhanced pre-rendered movies with better quality in high definition. Trophies for both games are added and all controllable and other major characters have new character models with monsters and minor characters having rearranged textures to improve quality. The game now plays at 16:9 widescreen and some scenes have been adjusted with different camera angles to accommodate for it. Despite all the new improvements, Final Fantasy X still doesn't have an option to skip cutscenes. The FMV scenes are not re-rendered and merely cropped from the original 4:3 aspect ratio to fit the widescreen perspective.
As the HD remasters are of the games' International versions, they have some new additions for North American and PAL region players. The Final Fantasy X International was never released in North America and includes a new Sphere Grid option, new optional bosses and new abilities. The Collector’s Edition, is exclusively available via the North American Square Enix Online Store, the Playstation 3 collector’s edition is priced at $79.99 and includes the following:

North America Release
The games arrive to PlayStation 3 and PS Vita on March 18th and will support cross save functionality. The games will retail for $39.99. The combo pack will be available as a download on PlayStation Network. One can also buy Final Fantasy X at retail that will include a voucher to download Final Fantasy X-2 from the PlayStation Store.
The PlayStation Vita version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster includes Final Fantasy X as a physical cartridge and a voucher to redeem a digital version Final Fantasy X-2.
