^ Can't really recommed kasi pareho naman sila okay. Here are some pros and cons I can think of for C# (Kasi c# gamit ko)
Pros:
* Ease of use - Madali magcode dahil sa Visual Studio. By madali I mean madali magedit, magalign, intellisense etc...
* Support - MSDN documentation and other sites are readily available.
* Applicable to new MS technology - Nauuso ngayon sa bagong version ng .NET is WPF and silverlight. Applicable parin yung C# sa mga to kasi sya yung code behind.
Cons:
* License is expensive: Di masyado affected programmer dito except the fact that most companies that use Visual Studio license are already stablished kasi may kamahalan ang VS.
* Technology efficiency is tied up to other MS products: Supported naman nila yung ibang non-ms products (MySQL, Oracle, etc...) kaya lang yung mga recommended ay MS din (MS SQL, IIS, silver light).
* OS dependency - Almost forgot this one. Pero as far as I know, medyo complicated pa if not impossible to run .NET code sa Linux or Mac. So most of the time your OS will be Windows when developing C# (Another tie-up)
Hope it helps!

In letran we have specialization. at kasama nga dun yung system engineering.
SIla kasi yung foundation mo in building a good solution. Without those, its like building a house without a blueprint.
Kapag entry level programmer ka palang, hindi mo pa masyado maapreciate sya kasi most of the time, you'll be coding other people's design. Pero kapag nabigyan ka ng chance mag go through an end-to-end software lifecycle, those would be skills you'll need the most.

I'm not sure about other programming patterns pero kung OOP (Object Oriented Programming) yung language, basta alam mo yung core syntaxes, maiintindihan mo na yung ibang language (like C#, C++, Java at VB.NET).

Well, graphics design, though related to software development, is very different. But I've known some career shifters from HR, etc. who could do software development now. But many companies still prefer people with background in Computer Science since software development takes more than programming. You'd also need some background on architectures, algorithms, design etc.
But I'm thinking if you don't have a degree in any IT related field, you can build up your portfolio on your own. Get a fairly complex application running; have it published or something; and put it on your resume. Actually that's pretty much what software development companies want, a proof that you can build an application using a certain (set of) technology(ies). And of course that you actually know what you're doing. :p

PiotrRasputin wrote:
