Nintendo's venture into 3D gaming, courtesy of the recently revealed Nintendo 3DS, will hit as early as this October, according to a new report citing a "very senior publishing source."
CVG says it has on good authority from multiple "industry sources" that the Nintendo 3DS, which won't require 3D glasses to display potentially dazzling three-dimensional effects, will arrive before the holiday shopping season and well before the March 2011 release window that Nintendo set for itself. Nintendo plans to show the device off at this year's E3 expo in June, plenty of time to hype up a fall release for the new platform.
The Nintendo 3DS, the successor to the wildly popular Nintendo DS platform, reportedly features a "3D joystick" and force feedback, along with a 3D display, likely from from either Sharp or Hitachi.
Hopefully, we'll see some games for the 3DS that will melt our eyeballs at E3. Maybe that third Golden Sun game Nintendo showed off at last year's expo will re-appear...

Grabe, sobrang na tetempt ako sa DSi XL pero dahil sa news na baka lumabas na this year ang 3DS, I'll try to hold out for as long as I can para yun na lang mabili ko. Tiyaga na lang muna with my DS Lite.

There's still a lot unknown about the Nintendo 3DS, but here's one new fact straight from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata himself: You can turn off the 3D part of the 3DS if you want to.
Speaking to Forbes (via Joystiq), Iwata acknowledged the health concerns of 3D displays potentially harming children's eyesight, and promised it'll be "easy" to turn off the 3D functionality on the handheld. This is the first confirmation that not every new game on the 3DS will require the 3D display to play them.
This also, though, raises a few questions: For one, if the 3DS isn't being played in 3D, does it not then lose its fundamental selling point? And will there eventually be some games that, by their very nature, simply can't be played without the 3D visuals? (For example, the "pseudo 3D" DSi game Looksey's Line Up has gamers using the depth-of-view to try and find objects hidden behind other objects, which would be impossible to replicate without that pseudo-3D view.)
All intriguing questions, and all questions that probably won't be answered until Nintendo gives the 3DS its big unveiling at E3 this June.

Yeah, known talaga ang Nintendo for releasing a lot of different versions for their current handheld. PArang yung SP, meron SP color, SP light, SP brighter etc...

Kumbaga PS1 yung DS, PS2 yung 3DS. hehehe

Yup, parati sila ahead with the tech like touchscreens and 3D tech. Kaya lang sana mas malakas na processor na din lagay nila so it can at least handle gamecube games and better sound...ayoko kasi ng parang MIDI lang minsan tapos di man lang kaya ng voice in most games.

...malay nyo baka 3ple screen to na 3D. Ganun nangyari sa DS dati, na surpresa ang tao dahil ang na leak lang dati na touchscreen siya, pero pag unveil sa E3 dual screen pala kaya maraming nabigla. Ganun din siguro dito sa 3DS, mabibigla tao.
:partyhat:Rumor: 3DS "Close To" 360, PS3 Graphics
Since the Game Boy Advance was a Super Nintendo, and the DS was a Nintendo 64, most people expect the upcoming 3DS to have the horsepower of a GameCube. IGN say that may be under-selling the machine somewhat.
The website reports "Several developers that have experienced 3DS in its current form have reported, off the record, that it has processing capabilities that far exceed the Nintendo Wii and bring the device with abilities that are close to HD consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360."
Interesting. Sounds like "several developers" may be getting ahead of themselves there, as we seriously doubt the 3DS will be packing such a powerful punch as to even come close to HD home consoles. But that's OK. We don't need it to! A handheld as good-looking as a Wii (or GameCube) would be fine; any better than that, no matter how slight or exaggerated the final results, and it's a bonus.
