Red Dead Redemption 2 got high review scores and huge sales. Do you think it deserves a Game of the Year recognition?

Can't vote yet since I haven't finished RDR2 yet. (And it will take me a good while) So far it looks like it's going to be either Spider-Man or Red Dead 2 this year.

I'm well into chapter 5, and about 35 hours in, and this game is a chore to play because of how poorly it controls, and functions especially during combat.

I love the characters, story, the level of detail in the world, but this game just doesn't play right. I recently played RDR 1 before playing RDR 2 and it baffles me how little evolution there is in terms of combat, movement, and gunplay. How this game got near unanimous scores of 10 out of 10 will forever baffle me, because the gameplay aspects of this game are not up to the current standards of video games.

For me, it's God of War as the GOTY. The game felt very satisfying to play, with great combat, tight mechanics, excellent story, characters, and impressive on a technical level.

I heard RDR2's pacing is really slow.

God of War for me. It was truly fun to play. Although the replayability was low, it was really fun to play and the story got me hook and looking forward to where it goes from here.

Marvel's Spider-Man was easily the most fun game this year. But it was way too easy. Still, kudos to Insomniac games for bringing us this experience to the PS4.

Red Dead Redemption 2 would easily be GOTY if God of War wasn't released in the same year. The scope of this game is massive. The graphics is easily one of the best though second only to Horizon Zero Dawn for me.
