House of Cards is missing in Netflix PH. :(

Been a Netflix subscriber for over a year now. Launching Netflix here in the Philippines, (and also to 129 other countries) is great. Now I can watch Netflix on mobile data. :)

For new users, you might want to invest on a cheap SmartDNS or VPN service so you can switch Netflix content from other regions. Your new Netflix bestfriend will be flixlist.com where you can search Netflix's database on what region your desired movie/tv show is on. Don't worry you won't get in trouble for it and no need to create a US account, or an EU account to access other regions. It's not like PSN wherein you need a US account to access the US store.

I think that will improve over time, kasi kailangan din nila bayaran rights to stream the shows for different regions eh. But yeah, this is unfortunate and ultimately why I'll hold off for now.

I think yung solution is to look at VPN services gaya ng sabi ni adams_song.

Problem is dahil nauna na yung iflix and yung hooq, malamang nakuha nila exclusive rights to a bunch of shows that netflix could have had.

Yung Hooq kailangan nang mawala yan. Hindi naman maganda ang service. I have a 60 day trial, pero minsan ko lang gamitin because of mediocre service & the selection isn't that good.

I've had Netflix for quite a while now. I've been using a DNS service that bypasses region blocking. I don't believe the 93% content bit. I actually prefer the content for the Philippines. The problem with those who sees Netflix for the first time is the front page doesn't show all the content. You need to do some searching. US content for the past few months have been mostly B-tier movies. The blockbuster ones are old and new content have been pretty much stale for the last two years. The advantage of US content would be regarding series especially for old ones. When logging in to the Philippines region, I lost most of the old TV series I have in my list such as Quantum Leap, Airwolf, MacGyver, Star Trek and some others. On the other hand, my wife got to keep most of the content on her list. Suwerte niya.

I've got a 3Mbps Internet connection from PLDT and can stream 720p content. It looks good already. Even 480p looks great. My TV is 43". Also, it is highly recommended by me to have a 112 IP address instead of 49 for DSL copper lines. It works still but you get a more consistent HD stream if you have a 112 IP. This is something I've monitored for more than month now and even have an existing trouble ticket with PLDT about it.

I forgot to mention that if you have a 3DTV, use the PS3 to watch. The PS3 Netflix app supports 3D for movies available in 3D.

I availed HOOQ simply because I don't have that high internet speed.
gladly i got a free Chrome Cast via my current internet provider.
I don't have cable tv currently sa house na tinitirhan ko so okay lang.

Currently watching Flash season 1. :)

Subscribed ako ngayon sa iflix, hooq and netflix.

Bagung subscribe lang ako sa hooq and netflix. So far, imo pinaka maganda ang library ng Hooq. Ang dami kasi mga 80s and 90s classic pinoy movies ie shake rattle and roll, reagal shocker, isang araw walang diyos, oh my mama, etc.

:banghead:

You also have to consider that Netflix has options for HD while Iflix doesn't. I'm not sure with HOOQ. Pair that with a good streaming device and sound system and you also get 5.1 audio and sometimes 3D if your streaming device supports it. Netflix also has original content. Plenty of it actually that you will not find in any other service much like how HBO makes content. This begs the question though that why isn't House of Cards not in the Philippine region? It is pretty much the flagship content of Netflix and the one first one if I recall correctly (saw it when it first came out) followed by Orange is the New Black.

Still, even if Netflix is already supported here, I'll gladly use a DNS service to allow me to change regions. I currently use Unblock-US. Before I was using Tunlr since it is free but they closed down. I think they are coming back but with a fee. There is another DNS service that is free but they do not the API to update the IP automatically from dynamicDNS services on the router.

Napansin ko lang din... US region streams faster for some reason. Hahaha!

What's also great with Netflix is that it's easily available on different platforms. Computers, mobile devices, video game consoles (except for PS TV), Smart TVs can access Netflix's services.

If House of Cards isn't available in other SEA territories, then I'm guessing the show's not available on their Netflix SEA catalog because it is available on cable TV on Channel RTL-CBS Entertainment.

It's pretty much confirmed. I'll be keeping Unblock-US, not because of the content but because of the stupid throttling PLDT uses. I just switched to US and I'm getting consistent HD stream quality.
