Amazon Fire TV Gaming Edition

Do you also play with non-PlayStation devices? Do you enjoy playing as a plumber saving a princess? Or some bald marines? Or maybe you want to play using the touchscreen?

Amazon announces updated Fire TV Gaming Edition

An updated Amazon Fire TV that supports "high-performance" gaming will be available in October, the online retailer announced today.

The Amazon Fire TV Gaming Edition set will include the new Fire TV multimedia player, a revised controller, and a 32GB microSD card, as well as two games: Shovel Knight and DuckTales Remastered. The package will cost $139 at launch.

While the bundle includes the wireless controller, it can also be purchased separately for $49. It will require double-A batteries for "up to 90 hours of battery life," and offers a headphone jack and built-in microphone.

Like the previous Fire TV, the hardware revision will have access to the Amazon marketplace's entire gaming library, which the company claims now features "over 800 games, more than any other streaming media player."

The device sports 2GB of memory for built-in storage and can support up to 1080p and 4K Ultra HD. Like a typical Fire TV box, it can also stream video from Amazon Prime, Hulu and Netflix.

The new Amazon Fire TV is now available for pre-order in either a bundle or a standalone package, with shipments planned to go out starting Oct. 5.

It's been a big day for Amazon, which debuted not only the updated Fire TV editions, but also a new, budget-priced tablet.
