Enhanced PS3 Version Of Deadly Premonition In The Works
Fans of the bizarre, sometimes-awful, always-lovable Deadly Premonition: Rejoice! News is coming out of the Game Developers Conference that an updated version of the cult classic is being worked on for the PlayStation 3.
Joystiq reports that Toybox, a tiny new studio headed up by ex-Marvelous CEO Yasuhiro Wada, is working with Deadly Premonition mastermind Swery on a "remastered" version of the game. The new version of the game will be on PS3 (the orignal was Xbox 360-only in North America) and will include "new scenarios" and PlayStation Move support.
I'm less than sold on implementing motion controls in a game with already questionable gameplay, but new story segments guarantee that I'll be checking this out. Wada and Swery will apparently be showing off the revamped Deadly Premonition at this year's E3.
Gamasutra notes that Wada also hinted at another possible project that "would follow in the footsteps of Deadly Premonition." Here's hoping that a sequel or spiritual successor is in the planning stages.
