Lapsed Catholic. I still pray and believe in God pero minsan nalang ako mag attend ng Mass.

Halimbawa, yung kay Charice Pempengco becoming a man named Jake Zyrus.

Another one ay yung balitang mag live-in si James Reid at Nadine Lustre. Marami nanaman nagsasabi na against God yun. Dapat kasal muna bago mag live-in.

Lastly, yung mga against sa tattoo and pre-marital sex because bawal ayon sa Bible.

Back to topic...
May mga nakasulat sa Bible na in my opinion ok lang na hindi sundan. I believe that an individual can be a Catholic (or any kind of Christian) but at the same time be who he/she wants to be and do what he/she wants to do.

Personally, I dont mind if people chooses to blindly follow their faith - kanya kanyang trip lang naman yan, ang sa kin lang is don't rub it into other people's faces like they dont have a say on the matter.

I always stay away from religious discussions because I always see condescending remarks on the beliefs of others whether it be about their religion or the lack thereof. On this thread even, I see words or terms that are unnecessary for a balanced discussion.

I'm Catholic and I regret that I couldn't practice it but being around those who do especially the ones who are progressive about their beliefs, my faith is still strong even if I get to miss attending mass.

I would like to comment on the Bible and science, the more people understand science, the more the Bible becomes scientific. One example is the creation and how long it took. The Bible gets criticized for it but we never really considered time dilation. Heck, even your favorite Marvel or Star Wars movie doesn't even consider that but the Bible kind of did. Even the Big Bang theory was proposed by a Catholic priest. Amazing isn't it?

I've been an Atheist even before I knew what an Atheist is. I don't broadcast or talk about it though unless I'm asked and it's usually a short "Oh.. I'm an Atheist." The reason why I don't discuss it much is because religious people tend to think it's a challenge to dispel that disbelief to the point it's get tiring and somewhat pushy and insulting. Oh, my mother is an overly devout Christian, just imagine how that conversation went.

Not to disagree with you but atheists tend to do the same... condescendingly even. I always read or hear people say religion is the root cause of all conflicts, creationism is stupid, etc...

Of course you're right. It works both ways as well. I do know one Atheist like that. But I'm talking of my experience though. Perhaps when I was younger I was proud like that, but now I feel like a seasoned tree that could bear anything silently. There's still pride, but rarely in a public setting.

For me, the root of all trouble is focusing on one's self with no regard or empathy for anything else.

..and people look at you in a strange way if you say that you dont believe in a higher being. And the devout ones use that belief of yours as a way to personaly attack you by saying stuff like "kaya siguro hanggang ganyan na lang ang buhay nyan" or "kaya siguro hindi sinuswerte sa buhay dahil hindi naniniwala sa diyos" etc,etc...

pfft, hypocrites..

I didn't disagree with what you said, just added something to it. Of course each person has his or her own experience with how others condescendingly question his or her beliefs. You probably hang out with old people too much. I have atheist friends, some are preachy, rest are assholes. They insult and use terms like fairy tales, and fictional characters like Santa Claus (not referring to the saint), and the tooth fairy.

If you backread, you'd read the same kind of condescending terms such as blind, demon, etc.

I did and I read it before so there's not much to talk about. If one's a believer or non-believer their whole life then I don't see why proving one's point will ever change the other's perspective.

What I dislike are those fence jumpers, those that doesn't have a belief of their own, those "I went Atheist for a bit but now nagbalik loob ako" and vice versa. Those people I avoid like the plague. I feel like they're treating the whole thing like a trend.

I know what you mean. Haha! Maybe they really have a change of heart. People grow and not just by their age but through experience and environment. It'll be hard to discuss about that objectively because I doubt there's reliable statistics about it.

Also, see above image. That's what I'm talking about.
