New free demo released for the Unity Engine-powered Sonic fan game, Project ’06
n November 2019, we informed you about a demo for the upcoming Sonic fan game, Project ’06. Project ’06 aims to remake Sonic the Hedgehog (from 2006) in Unity Engine. And today, we are happy to report that a brand new free demo is available for download.
According to its creator, this new demo contains the stages Wave Ocean, Dusty Desert, White Acropolis, Crisis City, Flame Core, Radical Train, Tropical Jungle, Kingdom Valley, Aquatic Base & Tails’ Wave Ocean.
Sonic 2006 originally came out exclusively on Xbox 360 and PS3. Thankfully, this disaster never found its way on the PC. Still, and despite that, this fan remake promises to improve Sonic 2006 in every possible way.
We first reported on Project ’06 back in April 2019. So yeah, it’s at least cool witnessing ChaosX releasing new demos for it.
You can download the new demo for Project ’06 from here or here.
Lots of free Sonic fan games showcased in the SAGE 20th Trailer
SAGExpo has released a new trailer, showcasing some of the free Sonic fan games that are currently under development. SAGE, Sonic Amateur Games Expo, is an event dedicated to Sonic fan games, and will take place between September 5th and September 12th.
This trailer showcases a lot of Sonic fan games. The highlights – at least in my opinion – are the 2D games that are similar to the official 16-bit titles.
Sonic DVD is one of them, and there is also a 16bit version of Sonic Triple Trouble. Sonic Triple Trouble came exclusively on SEGA Game Gear, so it’s great witnessing an – unofficial – 16-bit version of it.
Sonic Legends also appears to be cool, and there is also a game for Soggy The Hoggy. Sonic Advance 4 Advanced also appears to be a fun free game. Moreover, there are some interesting 3D Sonic games, like Virtua Sonic, Sonic GT and Sonic Xtreme Unity.
Alongside the aforementioned Sonic games, we can also find some indie free games from other franchises. There is Super Mario Flashback, Megaman Perfect Blue and Dream Crafter.
