PC Setup Thread

Do you also play with non-PlayStation devices? Do you enjoy playing as a plumber saving a princess? Or some bald marines? Or maybe you want to play using the touchscreen?

RE: Buying 32" LED TV & Wall Mounting.
Well IF i had a lot of extra disposable cash, ample floor area & complete freedom in the house like some people,
I'll not think twice to do it. It's not a bad idea per se. Why not.
But in the current set-up of the PC's location it's not feasible.
Masikip, House Rules, OC People, Nasa major road yung bahay namin (mainit), etc.

The PC is in the Living room (the well ventilated area) on one corner, we have his wall mounted 42"LED TV which is on the other side of a wall. I want to jack it up. Pero magpapagapang pa yata ako ng mahabang HDMI cable.
It's an "everybody's PC" thing. My bedroom isn't blessed with proper natural ventilation.
Unlike most people i know their own PC is in their bedrooms complete with aircon pa.

I might consider looking for 20 to 21" though.

Anyway, here's my "Rig List":
- Intel Core i7 7700 3.6-4.2 Quad Core (Kaby Lake)
- MSI B250 Mortar
- MSI GTX 1050 Ti 4GB DDR5 Gaming X (Twin Frozr)
- G.Skill Ripjaws V Dual 16GB DDR4 2400Mhz (2x8GB)
- Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm 6Gb/s
- Samsung 850 Evo 250GB (or 120GB to make cheaper)
- Corsair CX750 750W 80Plus Bronze Power Supply
- Samsung LS20D300 19.5″ (or any 18.5-20" Full HD / HDMI socket)
- any Micro ATX/Mid-Tower Casing (under 2,000Php)

I checked some stores (4 of them) with their price lists (some of them don't have the exact parts though).
Out of 4 stores, DynaQuestPC (near Robinson's Galleria) is the cheaper among the rest (PC Gilmore, PC Express, CompLink). I could buy some cheap priced equivalent components from other stores and let Dyna (most components will be from them) build it for me.

I'm considering another option though.
Instead of Intel i7 7700, I could consider i5 7600.
But the PassMark Benchmark Points required on CPU by the Lumion 3D Software is still lingering my head.
i5 or i7?

May question pa ako about PSU.
Aside from Corsair, What are your feedbacks about CoolMaster Thunder 700W and Aerocool Rave 800W? Those a bit cheaper compared to Corsair.

Thanks! :)

With the kind of setup you're planning to get, it sounds to me like you do have disposable cash to spare and if you're willing to spend about 40K+ for a rig then i dont see why you shouldnt invest on a good tv considering the output you want to see. Mapapakinabangan mo ng husto yung performance ng dedicated graphics card mo kung maganda rin ang monitor/tv mo, you do know the importance of refresh rate dont you?

You have to stretch your budget talaga kung gusto mo ng optimal performance sa mga piyesang ipapa-buo mo.

Unsolicited advice na lang din, not all games are properly optimized for the pc.

I said in my earlier post na I'll use the PC for 3D renderings & presentation visuals at most that will have a lifespan usage of 5-6 years (with component upgrades every 2 years). Not really on Gaming.

It's matter of IF lang naman as stated also in my previous posts.
I don't have that much of time to play so many games in regular basis.
Hindi ko siya talaga priority. No need for console kasi may gaming console na rin sa same area, hindi ko nga rin nagagalaw eh sa sobrang busy.

If I'll buy a TV, lalabas may dalawang TV sa living area namin.
Yung isa to watch tv shows while yung isa ay pang-PC use lang. I know your advice is for "Optimal Usage to the fullest" or "For maximum experience/usage" pero parang hindi practical tingnan sa tingin ko.

Yup may panggastos ako.
Like I said, pang visuals use at most not really on gaming.

I'm not really on laptop use. While it saves space, di siya easily upgradeable per component like Desktop PC.

Wish I could stretch for more budget pero...
There's a saying, "Disposable Income has it's Limits".
I'm not like some people na kayang mag-sagad kung sagad at will (I envy them though for having so much moolah) & recover the costs within 2 paydays.

Again, Thanks to the advices.

You actually put in "gaming rig to be precise" from your OP kaya in-line sa gaming rig din ang naadvise namin.

Well, kung hindi pala priority ang gaming syo then mid-range specs will do (i5, gtx950, 8gb ram, 1tb+ sata, board with atleast 2 ram slots & any modern psu).

So either you stick on what you can afford OR spend extra to assemble the parts that you really WANT. Again, just tell them what you're going to use it for and kung magkano lang ang kaya mo, sila na bahala bumuo based on your preference.

I think the best way is to ask what kind of resolution are you going to play in, 1080p, 2k or 4k?

@Tibarn & VincH:
Yup. May nakita pa akong 22" with 1080p like.
Samsung LS22F355FHE. Technically 21.5" siya.

I think i could stretch a bit more from 19.5". I might get that one na lang.

Ok, so I'm running out of space (including back-ups), and the tablet/laptop that's connected to the TV is running slow when watching online.

Here are the options that I've thought of
1. Just use my gaming PC as the HTPC, which would mean buying a 5m-10m HDMI cable
1a. Buy at least 2 2TB external HDD for backups and to free some space.
1b. WD 8TB My Book Duo Desktop RAID External Hard Drive or something similar.

2. Buy a NAS (not sure if I really need one though)

3. Build a new PC and move all media files in there.

^or just free up space na lang. It's not like their value goes up the longer you keep them.

I saw this just when I finished deciding on which parts I need for my SFF/HTPC build. At least, space wouldn't be a problem when using an ATX case. Problem is the cost of the white parts.

Went for a Micro-ATX for my new build. Realized that ATX and other larger motherboards are overkill for my needs while not having potential cooling and hardware limitations of Mini-ITX builds.
