PC Setup Thread

Do you also play with non-PlayStation devices? Do you enjoy playing as a plumber saving a princess? Or some bald marines? Or maybe you want to play using the touchscreen?

I was thinking of building an HTPC with a disk drive (just to make back ups) and then came up with this list. I couldn't even find a case smaller than my gaming PC that would be able to fit at least 2 3.5" HDD and a disk drive.
  • CPU: Intel Pentium G4400 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor
  • Motherboard: Asus H110I-PLUS/CSM Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard
  • Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory
  • Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
  • Storage: Western Digital Red 3TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive
  • Storage: Western Digital Red 3TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive
  • Case: Silverstone ML03B HTPC Case
  • Power Supply: Silverstone 300W 80+ Bronze Certified SFX Power Supply
  • Optical Drive: LG UH12NS30 Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer
Right now I'm thinking of just buying an external blu ray reader (any recommendations) and a 3TB external HDD, since the parts from the list above cost too much. That and the case looks like a VHS player.

^thanks! Kasya sa backpack. Laking convenience for me.

@VincH

As Borat would say: "Very Nice!" He he... Very nice indeed! And yep, I like some of these "mid-range" GPUs now. More power efficient while having really good performance. :)

I'm already thinking of building another PC for "backup". Mahirap kasi walang magamit sa bahay. Baka mag AMD Ryzen na ako.

What components can I safely buy months before I assemble a PC?

I'm going to assemble my first PC this December so I'm saving up. Actually, gonna save up what I can and use the credit card for the rest.

So what can I buy and store? PC case? I know I could buy the OS now and just store it somewhere. What else can I buy? Will it be OK if I buy the electric parts, have it tried out in another PC then if it's OK eh store them?

It's pointless to buy now and assemble later kasi isipin mo yung gastos ng individual parts tapos labor pa.

If you have the time and budget, head to gilmore, madaming shops dun na pwede mo pagpilian.

So it's better to buy all parts from one shop? I guess that makes sense...but what if the part I want isn't there? Like the casing and motherboard? The others I can settle with what's in the shop though.

Does you advice apply to operating system too? I don't see any problem with software unless the disc has damage. (if it is a disc)

Most of the kilalang pc stores do this para ma-customize nila ang needs mo accdg to budget.

As for the OS, pwede mo rin bilhin yung legit na retail OEM (not really cheap) or mag download ka nalang ng installer. Not gonna make much difference though.

If it was me though, gaming laptop na agad bibilhin ko.

Ah. What I have is a laptop and I don't want laptops anymore, and I do not want bloatware and limited upgrade possibilities so no pre-build PC. This will be my first assembled PC.

Yep, going for the OEM OS.

If you do have the budget,i'd say go all out with your rig. Atleast future proof na yan.

Pero kung limited ang budget mo, madami naman mid entry dyan na pwede na, kargahan mo na lang ng mataas ng RAM at storage and you're all set. :agree:
