Sounds good! What will be there? Tournaments? Local devs? I'm certainly open to covering it for PSLS, but of course, depends on what stuff they have to show. Do they even give media passes? O_oDaniel wrote:The event is PC, online and console gaming only. Not the usual anime event or convention that we have. Not sure how big it is though.

^ Well there will be tournaments here and there.
It's still typically your local convention event, just supposedly focused on gaming.
I don't think it's PSLS worthy (since PSLS I think is catered to a global audience? ) but it's special in a sense that there's rarely any convention here in Manila that focuses on gaming per se.
EDIT: Well, someone can try and create an article like, "This is how a gaming convention looks like in the Philippines", like a Kotaku article lol
I'll PM you the email address of my contact, if you would like to cover the event and would like a media pass.

Wow this is nice! I've always wanted to try out writing for video games since its my hobby, but as of now I'm currently writing mostly news articles and sometimes feature articles for a government agency I try to write game reviews in a fun but different way (see my link below haha shameless promotion) hoping for any form of advice or exposure or anything related to gaming!

Hey! Yeah, it's a good job to have, I admit. My advice is write a lot and write well. Even if you can pump out 1,000-word essays in five-minutes, no one will hire you if you can't write well. I'm speaking generally here and not to you specifically. And again, learning how to write in AP is very, very helpful. Once you nail that, try and have your piece published in a reputable site (preferably, US-based) and work from there. Once PR and developers know you a bit, you'll then be able to ask for interviews, which leads to content you can shop around and use as leverage.superawts wrote:Wow this is nice! There's a ton of back-end stuff about it, too, but it's hard to explain in a forum post.
Also of note, I met with a forum member over the weekend and had a blast. We talked about the games industry and mostly about doing this as a profession. If ever anyone wants to do a coordinate meeting of sorts with a few people, I'm game. I'm always open to meet fellow gamers -- especially those who want to "break in" the games media field. Corny, but true. =)

We'll have some "survival" contest where the player with the highest winning streak gets a prize. We'll also have a gallery of PS consoles on display.excaliburps wrote:Yeah. I might drop by just to see how it goes down. What does PinoyPS members have planned?

Thanks sir! I'll check the AP style of writing soon. Always wondered why the gaming media here is not like in the US. Personally I want to explore this as a profession on being a games writer and I want to discuss this further. For now I'm trying to write video game reviews as an escape from my tedious work of news writing. I'll PM you sir within the next few days if its okay haha.excaliburps wrote:Hey! That sounds nice. Someone handling the event already responded and said they can give me a media pass, but i might go just to watch the fun.Daniel wrote:We'll have some "survival" contest where the player with the highest winning streak gets a prize. Really don't know where to put this but we've had the pleasure of talking to CD Projekt RED regarding The Witcher 3.
They confirmed that there won't be ports to PlayStation for the old games in the franchise: http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/201 ... aystation/
But, they also confirmed that a recap of sorts will be available for The Witcher 3.http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/201 ... newcomers/
The full interview will be up sometime next week. And also, we have a rather big interview lined up for a very big game. Don't want to jump the gun but I'll post here on PinoyPS to gather questions.
If ever you want to ask a dev a question or want an interview on a game, let me know and I'll see what we can do. =)

We have a few upcoming interviews with NIS and other JP studios. I'll see who's on the docket to relay it here.Daniel wrote:It's a bit hard to find copies of The Witcher 2 (360 version) coz it's region locked.
Hoping this may reach the Square Enix devs. "What is the target release date for Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III?"
Seriously, though, if anyone can choose a developer/studio they want us to interview, let me know. And of course, we'll let forum members chip in with their own questions. Also of note, I'll be linking our first community-driven feature at PSLS wherein the community will get something in return for submitting an article. Yes, it's like being paid for your work.

Just a quick heads-up, I'm now looking for a news writer who can work M-F. It will be at a flat rate (salaried).
Applicants should be able to:
Write well (AP Style knowledge is a nice bonus)
Knows how to find news for themselves
Will be able to hop online for gaming events (gamescom, E3, etc.)
Work during US timezones or around it
Due to the nature of the job, it will be home-based and you are NOT expected to work eight hours straight or anything of the sort. Ideally, I'm looking for at least 8-10 news posts per day.
Send me a ping over on Twitter )https://twitter.com/excaliburps) since it's easier to check for updates there compared here. Mods, if I'm violating any rules, just let me know. =)

Yup, details regarding the job would be great! If ever (as per other mods / admins), we can probably make a separate thread for this and make it a global announcement for a certain time. I think it's a great opportunity for our members here and also good for the site.

Salary is dependent, and something I'd rather discuss with the writer if and when he/she makes it. =D
Perks are working from home, writing about games and getting paid for it (it feels real good!), and of course games. Review codes can be part of the equation as long as you have time to review it. And also, want to make it clear that since we're looking for a news writer who can also write features and reviews, the job description itself varies.
Just don't expect that you'll review every AAA game, though.
Let me know if I have to make a separate thread for this or if you have any more questions. I'm hoping to either fill a weekender or someone who can writer M-F before the month's out.

Sorry for bumping this up from the dead, but we're giving away a bunch of games, keys, etc at PSLS! Wanted to loop in PinoyPS if ever they're interested.
We've given out (just in the last month): Rainbow Six Siege beta codes, Warframe booster packs, Black Ops 3 beta keys.
This month, we're giving away a Sony Santa Monica games bundle (thanks to Sony Santa Monica), a few PSN games, keys for Kill Strain and Guns Up! later today/tomorrow, and unless something happens, a few keys for Destiny: The Taken King.
Mods, if I'm violating anything, please let me know. Otherwise, I can post the giveaways here as to not clutter the forums.
And of course, if anyone wants to chat about games, how PSLS is now the biggest (in terms of traffic) non-Sony affiliated PlayStation site in the world, or just want to shoot the breeze, let me know. =)

No problem with this at all. We get our news from multiple sources and PSLS is one of them.
I like how the PS Store update is organized.
Thanks for the offers as well.
