Tales of the Abyss (3DS)

Thanks to Famitsu, we now know that Tales of the Abyss 3D will be much more than a simple port of the original game. We've got some screens and information introducing the improvements made to the 3D version. First is the news that the the game's skits will be redone, allowing the characters to show a wider range of expressions.


Here's a comparison of a scene on the PS2 (on the left) and on the 3DS. The 3DS has a wide screen view, showing more of the scene. The game's teaser site also attempts to get into the spirit of the 3D aspect of the visuals.


Battles and world exploration will both make use of the bottom screen. During world exploration, the bottom screen will feature a map. In battle, players can issue commands to allies using the bottom screen. The article also mentions that the 3D features in the game will make it easier to judge the difference between characters and enemies.

Naguluhan lang kasi ako.. doon sa 1st page ganda ng graphics very smooth.. yung second scan di ok yan for 3DS if ever.. i believe kaya na mag produce ng 3DS ng game na comparable naman sa graphics ng Wii or even slightly better..

...so far daw sabi ng mga nakasubok, pinakamagandang graphics na playable na nakita nila ay parehong capcom gumawa. SF4 ang una, second yung RE mercenaries. Siguro makita natin kung gaano kaganda to sa video form.

Fans of the Tales series have good reason to be skeptical of the possibility of a Western release for almost any game in the series, but for once such a release is being confirmed even before the game comes out in Japan. People with early access to the latest issue of Nintendo Power magazine are reporting that it contains a clear announcement that Tales of the Abyss 3D, the upcoming Nintendo 3DS version of Tales of the Abyss for the PlayStation 2, will be coming to the US. Unfortunately, we don't have any details on a potential release date or pricing, but we will be certain to provide them once they are available.

Namco Bandai Games Europe announced a more exact release date for Tales of the Abyss 3D during the Japan Expo event last month in Paris, France. The 3DS game will come out on November 10 across Europe, Australia, and other PAL regions.

Tales of the Abyss 3D is a 3DS port of the original game for the PlaySation 2. In addition to 3D effects, it will have redone skits and will make use of the touch screen for exploration and battles. It has been announced for release in North America, but no date more specific than 2011 has been officially set. Another Tales game, Tales of Graces F for the PlayStation 3, will also be released in both North America and PAL nations sometime in 2012.
