Today’s issue of Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun includes a surprise advertisement for Persona 5 and the Persona Super Live concert.

“Advance notice: Tonight I will appear in Nippon Budokan,” the advertisement reads. It’s signed, “The Phantom.”

Nippon Budokan is, of course, the venue of the concert.

In the center of the advert, we see a character wearing a white mask. We’re not sure who he is, but given the previous concert teaser visual, it’s likely the protagonist of Persona 5.

In the lower left corner, we see the text, “Persona 5 begins.”

To the right, we see the magic hat-wearing fireball-thing and “Take Your Heart” text that appeared in the “News Flash! Persona Channel 2015” live stream earlier.

The Persona live stream is still ongoing. Another unannounced event is planned for 10:30 p.m. EST tonight, and a final unannounced event (heaviy suggested to be Persona 5-related) is planned for tomorrow morning after 7:00 a.m. EST.

Anyone notice that they're fighting Sandmen and not Shadows? Anyone know what a Sandman is series-wise? I hope I'm not the only one who got that.

Now that I think about it, there's a big chance Alice in Wonderland is the core lore here,

Then again, that already happened in Persona Q. Also, the seven sins may be a main theme this time around.

I like the melee + ranged weapons per character, they finally did it.

Seven sins may be a theme based on that cat, but I think it might be based on a deity's story (similar to Orpheus on Persona 3 and Izanagi on Persona 4).

Also, no clues if the game will have social links. Anyway, still day 1 purchase regardless.

There're too many Persona 5 threads, so I'm just gonna put this here. It's a translated magazine interview about some Persona 5 details.

Some quick new details from a magazine interview with Hashino Katsura.

-The MC transferred to the city as a 2nd year in the spring.

-He lives in a cafe run by an old friend of his parent’s.

-The MC has a certain problem, and if he doesn’t fight back against whatever it is, some kind of distressing future will come to be. The sequence in which he looks like a prisoner takes place in what could be called a prison of the soul. Basically a prison in his mind I guess.

-The game takes place in Shibuya and various other places in the megalopolis.

-The dungeon in the PV is not randomly generated, and the main areas in the game will consist primarily of places that would make sense for a phantom thief to infiltrate. Various gimmicks included as well. No mention of random dungeons being in, but not a confirmation that they’re 100% out either.

-Something resembling S.Links will also be in?

-MC’s main Persona is called Arsene (?). Looks like it could be a rif on the famous thief Arsene Lupin.

-Instead of the “カッ” seen in previous Persona summon sequences, it looks like it’ll be “ブチッ” instead. EDIT: for clarity, the latter is the sound used to refer to something snapping. Think someone’s patience running thin and hitting the breaking point.
