New Prototype 2 Screenshots Hit The Internet
(justpushstart)
Activision has just released a bunch of amazing looking screenshots from the Xbox 360 version of their upcoming action title Prototype 2.
Prototype 2 will continue and further the carnage created in the original game. Prototype 2 will have the same shape shifting ultimate weapon approach to destruction with a brand new main character called Sgt. James Heller.
Prototype 2 is currently set for release in April on PC, X360 and PS3.
THE BUZZ: GameStop has revealed an exclusive pre-order bonus for North American fans of Prototype 2.
Fans who pre-order before April 23, will receive the â€Sgt. James Heller’s Devastating Bio-Bomb Butt Kicker Ability.â€
“Butt Kicker is a fun twist on Heller’s already over-the-top new Bio-Bomb ability,†said Radical Entertainment studio head Ken Rosman. â€Rather than just throwing enemies once Heller has infected them with the Blacklight virus; Butt Kicker allows Heller to drop-kick punt them across the map, turning enemies into projectiles that rain down devastation from above.â€
EGM’s TAKE: This is one cool ability that you can get for absolutely no extra cost just be pre-ordering the game. What’s stopping you? Go!
Quick shots: Prototype 2 artwork and screens released for Heller, Guerra, Dana
Activision has released new screens and concept art from Radical Entertainment’s April actioner, Prototype 2. If you head on below the page break, you’ll become privy to some renderings of Father Guerra, a Catholic priest living in a cathedral in the Yellow Zone who is an ally of Heller’s. There’s also a couple shots of Dana Mercer, Alex Mercer’s sister, and one piece of concept art. Finally, you will notice some new shots of James Heller, and a few illustrations depicting his cool jacket and tendril tattoo. Prototype 2 will be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 at the end of April.
One of the trickier parts of a sequel can be explaining how the events of the previous story line up with the new one. Radical Entertainment is tackling that challenge with help from Dark Horse Comics. An upcoming digital comic series will explain how players moved from Alex Mercer's story to new hero Sgt. James Heller's adventure.
“We’re always looking for meaningful ways to expand the Prototype universe, and Dark Horse Comics is an industry-leading creative powerhouse delivering best-in-class graphic storytelling that integrates deeply to the core of our IP,†gushes Ken Rosman, studio head at Radical. “With this partnership, our fans will finally be given answers to some dramatic loose ends from the first Prototype game, as well as the truth behind Alex Mercer’s descent and evolution into a twisted shadow of his former self for Prototype 2.â€
The three-issue arc will launch February 15 on Dark Horse Comics' digital site, with the remaining installments becoming available every two weeks.
“Sgt. James Heller’s heart-wrenching backstory meshed with the sheer amount of over-the-top shape-shifting action in Prototype 2 lend themselves perfectly to a comic book series,†says Dave Marshall, editor of Dark Horse Comics. “We worked extremely close with Radical Entertainment’s story team for Prototype 2, and can’t wait to visually walk fans through the many dark secrets strewn throughout the tattered world of New York Zero!â€
The first installment, illustrated by Paco DÃaz is called "The Anchor," and, follows Alex Mercer's journey after the first game. "The Survivors" (illustrated by Chris Staggs) shows how New York's residents are dealing with the Blacklight virus as they try to escape the quarantined city. It all wraps up with Victor Drujiniu's "The Labyrinth," which shows how Heller fits into the overall story.
Expect to see lots of blood, tentacles, and crashing helicopters.
THE BUZZ: Activision and Radical Entertainment have announced the special items you will receive if you pre-order Prototype 2 from Best Buy.
EGM’S TAKE: Gamestop recently revealed the Bio-Bomb Butt Kicker ability if you were to pre-order Prototype 2 with them and so Best Buy made sure that their deal had to at least be on par with that.
If you pre-order from Best Buy, James Heller will have access to the Hardened Steel armor, which can best be summed up by Radical Entertainment Studio Head, Ken Rosman:
“Prototype 2′s Hardened Steel Vehicle Armor allows Sgt. James Heller to jump into any military vehicle and shrug off even the most devastating attacks. Whether fighting off individual soldiers, helicopters, tanks, and APCs or all the above at once, this upgrade provides Heller a defensive advantage as he goes head-to-head against everything the enemy Blackwatch forces throw at him.â€
This sounds all well and good, but I’m concerned because if this armor is supposed to be as powerful as Rosman hypes up, does it stand a chance of making the game too easy then? Could this allow you to buy your way to some easy trophies and achievements? It sounds like the start of a slippery pre-order slope if you ask me. Then again, if you’re just playing the game to blow stuff up without remorse to begin with, then this will likely just help you to do more of that so I guess it all depends on what reason you have for playing the game.
Along with the armor, there will be a limited edition Prototype 2 poster while supplies last to go with the Best Buy bundle.
Radical Entertainment has announced Prototype 2′s RADNET content. The promotion offers 55 pieces of additional content, including “in game Events, Challenges, Avatar Items, Dynamic Themes, Behind-the-Scenes videos, as well as bonus Mutations for PROTOTYPE2′s main campaign.â€These will be redeemable by a one time use code and the content will release weekly for seven weeks.
As well as the additional content, anyone who completes all the RADNET challenges and events will unlock a reward, which will be revealed in March.
Ken Rosman, Studio Head of Radical Entertainment spoke about RADNET.
“Radical Entertainment has always focused on bringing long lasting fun to its fans, and Prototype 2’s RADNET content is our way of rewarding the game’s most loyal supporters – the early adopters, the one’s who will replay it over and over again. We think this is great because we’re giving our fans hours of additional gameplay outside Prototype 2’s main narrative, and cool rewards, all delivered weekly following the game’s launch.â€
Prototype Type is to launch April 24th, 2012 in North America and 27th April, 2012 in Europe on PS3, Xbox 260 and PC.
^Halos equal ang bilang ng likes and dislikes. Iba na talaga devs ngayon. Pwede naman nilang sama sa regular edition yung mga "bonuses" na yan for maximum customer satisfaction.
