I think he means as the disc enters the slot, it slowly spins. You can see the disc rotate because half of it is still exposed...

Hmm interesting, di ko napapansin yun, wait lemme test on my units...
EDIT:
60gb launch US: no spin, it just gobbles it up!
80gb Motorstorm bundle: No spin as well!
hmmm, di kaya mas prone ma scratch yung disc pag iikot siya on it's way in?
although scratch resistant naman ang BD.

i don't think so kasi nga scratch resistant ang BD.. sana next gen BD, finger print proof naman! yun nalang kulang eh.. lahat ng BD ko panay fingerprint ni bayaw after nya gamitin :damn:dummydecoy wrote:Hmm interesting, di ko napapansin yun, wait lemme test on my units...

I made that up. pwede na sana noh? haha!
Slot-loading drives work by having sets of motorised rollers grab the edges of discs as it is inserted halfway into the drive and then guided into the driv'es spindle.
Originally, all PS3s were designed to have 2 motorised rollers. The rotation observed when discs are inserted is caused when the disc does not come into contact with the rollers at the same time. This is normal and does not cause damage to the disc or the drive whatsoever.
N.A. PS3s however have 4 disc holders that totally eliminate the rotation of disc upon insertion. This was done to prevent xbots (who are mostly in America) from purposely or accidentally damaging their friend's PS3's bluray discs and whining about it on internet boards as most Xbox360s were notoriously known to scratch their discs.
As a result, these xbots just came up with "ps3 has no gaems" as a pathetic attempt to cover their whooped ass and their unquestionable butthurt.
