Oculus Rift Priced at $600, Launching In March

Do you also play with non-PlayStation devices? Do you enjoy playing as a plumber saving a princess? Or some bald marines? Or maybe you want to play using the touchscreen?

As promised, Oculus has opened pre-orders for its first consumer Rift virtual reality headset. Now that you can actually lock your order in, we finally know one of the most important details: just how much it will cost.

In order to bring home the Rift, you’ll need to budget $600. When we spoke with Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe at E3, he reiterated a previous statement about what interested purchasers should expect to pay for a new PC that supports VR and the headset itself.

The Rift will come with copies of Lucky's Tale, the platformer developed by Playful and published by Oculus Studios, and CCP Games' space dogfighting game, Eve: Valkyrie. It will also include an Xbox One wireless controller and the Oculus Remote; last week, Oculus delayed the handheld Oculus Touch controllers to the second half of 2016. Oculus said that more than 100 VR games, including Minecraft, will be available by the end of the year — including 20 Rift-exclusive titles from Oculus Studios.

This is sent to die. You're going to be spending quite a premium to get this running since you'll be needing a high spec PC.

The f with that spec requirement. This won't do well unless they slash the price.

Not surprising.

I mean the initial buyers of this thing will be early adopters who are in the enthusiast market. It will be probably struggle, but it will be growing pains for the VR market.

I think PS VR will be priced lower but because of the peripherals will still be expensive. My guess is 400 USD for PS VR tapos 450-500 usd bundled with a move controller and camera.
