PC Setup Thread

Do you also play with non-PlayStation devices? Do you enjoy playing as a plumber saving a princess? Or some bald marines? Or maybe you want to play using the touchscreen?

Ah. 50k budget ko but I do not want to spend much on a component that I won't fully use the feature they have.

What the difference of a socket 1151 and LGA 1151?

RAM (6GB and above) and storage (atleast 500gb). With constant maintenance on your part, these two will serve you very well and can go a very long way. Di bale yung processor at video cards since the ones out in the market now can pretty much handle heavy tasks. Yung iba like CDdrive, monitor, etc magdedepende na sa pangangailangan mo talaga.

With that much budget, you'll have more than just what you can afford. Maayos na rig mo nyan. Just dont go overboard with the aesthetics. Again, just buy what is suitable for your needs. For the extra budget, you can go for a printer/scanner (kung wala ka pa). :agree:

I'm trying to minimize the aesthetics. It should look so simple but refined so I'm going for a Fractal Case with as little design curves as possible. So I don't have a use for a Transformers looking motherboard or memory since it will be hidden anyway. I'm just aiming for a fast rig that will keep up with no matter what I put in it.

kung more on gaming pinaka importante mo i consider is yung video card then processor then ram. 8gb is enough. hintayin mo paglabas ng Ryzen cpus ng AMD then compare it to Intel counterparts bago mo i decide kung paano mo i budget ang 50k.

It's a general setup but I would want it to handle anything so I suppose gaming would be the most taxing process it will do. (I have moved my target month from December to January 2018 because..well.. Holiday season in Manila will drive me crazy.

What do you think of M.2 SSDs? It seems relatively new I'm not sure if it will be the next standard or die like Betamax VS VHS.

Yung mabubuo mo for that range can pretty much handle most of the heavy processing tasks nowadays.

If it was me at bubuo ako then i might as well isagad ko na lang din sa best parts para swak din sya for post processing and editing stuffs. Although you may not need one yet, still, it's better to have one ready kesa naman yung kung kailan ka mangailangan dun ka lang magagahol maghanap.

But to adapt to M.2 means I'm future proofing the rig and also going for the best storage, as you say I should focus on it. :)

why not settle for the regular 2.5 SATA ones? mas mura kahit papano and you can easily find them at any pc store. Ang kagandahan kasi sa SATA is masira man, madali palitan dahil common sya tapos pwede mo pa ma-recycle yung pinaggamitan mo na old SATA by turning it into external drive. BIli ka lang enclosure tapos format mo sya using disk management and ok na. I've been doing this from my previous laptop hard drives for the past 6 years and i never bought a brand new hard drive at all. Pinagpapalit palit ko lang sila. Never mind the capacity since i do not store important files in my current system, i always back them up on several separate storage devices tapos retrieve na lang as needed.

The thing about future proofing your system does not necessarily mean you have to go out and get the best parts na. The "best" parts out now in the market can easily be outdated 5 years down the road. Having a rig with a bunch of high end piyesas is one thing, constant maintenance is another. You said it yourself, "general setup" lang so for now just get what you can afford and put in what you think you will need muna tapos mag upgrade ka nalang pag kinailangan na. You'll pretty much realize na yung 50k alloted budget mo for a rig is actually quite more than enough. :agree:

reliable pa din ang mga regular hdd today pero kung gusto mo mabilis mag boot (around 12 secs) mag small ssd plus regular hdd combo ka. 128gb ssd is enough na for me then regular high capacity drives na yung mga secondary drives. windows and apps sa ssd then games and multimedia files sa regular hdd. ganyan setup ko before.

It's not just future proofing din naman. M.2 is faster daw than SSDs and mukhang maliit lang difference sa SSDs (well, small enough that I might as well go for it). Syempre I'll include another drive for my files and another one as a redundant backup.

I've read before that the safest max space drive eh 2TB, anything higher has higher risk of the drive failing.

Hard drive failure depends on usage lang din talaga. As long na hindi sya nadadamage physically it should be fine kahit pa saksakan mo ng kung ano-anong files yan at isagad mo ang available space - just not too much though.

Sa experience ko with IDE (yung mga luma to) and SATA hdd, tinotopak lang sila pag naaalog dala nga ng may disc yan sa loob. Magkaka bad sector kasi agad yan at apektado ang read/write nya. I would imagine SSD's are a different case kasi i personally did not have extensive experience in using them anyway.

Like i said, kung magpapabuo ka just go to a single store, tell them your budget and what you need the pc for at sila na bahala bumuo.

It's been a while..

Hmmm looks like i need to upgrade for new Gaming PC to support at least 3 to 5 years of usage.

Anyways, my budget must play around 30k to 40k as much as possible.
You can suggest a 50k rig (although i'm kinda avoiding it muna).

A Gaming Rig to be precise. Kasi I'll be using it updated 3D Softwares:
3D Studio Max 2017 with Vray 3.4 plug-in
Lumion 6 & 7

Ok lang kahit Mid Tower ATX Casing ako.
Since i don't have that space for Full Tower type on my current PC Table.

How about monitors?
Can the old Samsung flat screen display great graphics let's say from GTX 980 to 1050 cards? Or do i need a new screen?

How about CPU? Do I need Skylake or Kabylake?

Memory? I'm targeting 16GB (2 pcs of 8GBs).

Hard Drive, I'm planning to use 1 SSD for OS & frequently used softwares. Ok daw ang Samsung Evo? will 128GB do? or 250GB na? For traditional HDD, 1TB may do.

Motherboard? What's the best board for my rig?
Some said Asus, MSI are good enough? (dami kasing manufacturer eh)

Same goes for Video Card (arte kasi ng Lumion, may "PassMark Points Requirement pa for both CPU & GPU)
10k lang max budget ko for this one. (I accepted the fact na malabo talaga ako mag-Titan X or even GTX 1080  dami ding manufacturer)

Probably I no longer be needing Blu-Ray/RW Drive.

If i'll be using it to play PC Games, maybe i'll play:
NBA 2K17
MGSV
Battlefield 1

Thanks.

What's the model ba? if 1080p naman ok na yan sa 980 or 1050. kapag 1060 and up yung video card mo then you need a monitor with higher resolution than 1080p like 2560x1600.
How about CPU? Do I need Skylake or Kabylake?
Kabylake na. mas power efficient. i suggest i5 7600.
Memory? I'm targeting 16GB (2 pcs of 8GBs).
yes. 16gb 8gbx2 is the new normal. i recommend G. Skill brand.
Hard Drive, I'm planning to use 1 SSD for OS & frequently used softwares. Ok daw ang Samsung Evo? will 128GB do? or 250GB na? For traditional HDD, 1TB may do.
128ssd is ok na for os. Samsung evo is ok, yan gamit ko sa dating rig ko. now im using Crucial. so far so good.
Motherboard? What's the best board for my rig?
Some said Asus, MSI are good enough? (dami kasing manufacturer eh)
MSI is ok naman but Asus is better imo. as of now MSI ang gamit ko. B250 chipset is good enough.
Same goes for Video Card (arte kasi ng Lumion, may "PassMark Points Requirement pa for both CPU & GPU)

sa 10k gtx kaya na gtx 1060 Palit or Zotac brand. para just in case na mapabili ka ng new monitor ma maximise mo pag gamit.
Probably I no longer be needing Blu-Ray/RW Drive.
yes, pero kung may extra budget bili ka na din ng external optical drive. it may come in handy.
If i'll be using it to play PC Games, maybe i'll play:
NBA 2K17
MGSV
Battlefield 1

Thanks.
kayang kaya yan sa gtx 1060 and i5 setup :agree:

^Thanks for the answers. I'm accepting more suggestions :)
Yung current monitor ko right now is Samsung Syncmaster pa 18.5 inch.
1440 x 900 lang max resolution.

I'm looking for a good enough monitor for gaming na 1080p/Full HD capable (or makakasabay sa GTX 1050Ti).
Between 18.5 or 19.5 inches (yun lang kasi kasya sa space that I have sa computer table)
