Satisfaction with gov’t war on drugs falls by 11 points—SWS
Fewer Filipinos have said that they are satisfied with the Duterte administration’s campaign against illegal drugs as they expressed worry that they would fall victim to extrajudicial killings, according to a recent survey by Social Weather Stations (SWS).
The survey, conducted from March 25 to 28, showed that public net satisfaction rating of the government’s war on drugs declined to +66 in the first quarter of 2017, an 11-point decline and one grade down from the “excellent” +77 that the campaign received in December last year.
The same poll showed that majority or 73 percent of Filipinos were worried that they or someone they know would be a victim of summary executions—37 percent said they were” very worried,” 36 percent were “somewhat worried,” 14 percent were “not too worried,” and 13 percent answered “not too worried at all.”

Neda chief disagrees with Piñol
Economic managers are pushing for rice importation by the private sector to temper rising prices of the Filipino staple food

“The stand of the economic team is timely rice importation because it’s not possible, at least in the near- to medium-term, to be [rice] sufficient,” Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and Ernesto M. Pernia told reporters on the sidelines of The Dutertenomics Forum yesterday.

Asked if economic managers preferred private or government-to-government importation, Pernia, who heads state planning agency National Economic and Development Authority, said it should be the private sector.
To be fair sa administration's economic team, they are saying (and for the most part) doing the right things. I think yung tax reform na tinutulak ng DOF will be really good for our country, especially the accompanying infrastructure program na kasama.

On the rice policy, I agree with NEDA and DOF that it is high time to let the private sector import and reduce the role of the NFA, since its one of the worst performing GOCCs in the Philippines and does not do a good job of fulfilling its mandate.

'Ambitious' Metro Manila subway to be built by 2024 – DOTr

Image
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The country will have its first subway system from Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City to the airport in Pasay City by the second quarter of 2024, said Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.

Called Mega Manila Subway, the project will use "Japanese tunneling expertise," Tugade said on Tuesday during a forum that launched "Dutertenomics," the administration's economic program anchored on the concept of building key infrastructure.

Before his performance, he said to the audience, “Technically, I’m not allowed to speak in Filipino, so I’m going to translate this song for you.”
hindi pala pinagbawalan pag sinabihan kang "you are not allowed to"

Yael Yuzon clears air over mall show incident, calls it 'misunderstanding'
"Mayroon lang nawawala in translation habang nagtri-trickle down iyong information sa mga employees nila I guess," he explained, sharing that he and SM have already met to discuss the incident.
The confusion began, according to Yuzon, when he was asked to remove "Jeepney"
from their set list.

"Lumalabas sa mga artist na hindi puwedeng mag-Tagalog when in truth, puwede naman. So OK na", he said.

"SM naman has always been very supportive sa mga Filipino artists. I'm sure every single Filipino artist at one point has played an SM show . . . Everything is good."
http://news.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/0 ... erstanding

The 33-year-old singer also explained, however, that he later learned there was no directive from the SM Malls management prohibiting local bands from performing Tagalog songs in their malls.

of course damage control ang gagawin ng SM because of the backlash.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News' Gretchen Fullido on Friday night, Yuzon clarified that while he was originally told to refrain from using Filipino, there was actually no "direct order" from SM management to do so.
its a fact that he was not allowed from using Filipino according din sa interview nya ABS. same din sa sinabi nya sa beginning ng performance nya. unang statement ng SM

Rappler asked SM Retail for comment and received this initial statement:

We apologize for the miscommunication regarding the performance of Spongecola at SM Megamall. Yes we do encourage global language in the mall but we do not disallow OPM's without explicit lyrics. The concern is the loud drums that cause noise pollution to the shoppers and may cause inconvenience to both tenants and shopper.

But Yuzon performed alone, without the rest of his band, and with an acoustic setup. A quick Google search shows that "Jeepney" does not contain explicit lyrics.

SM followed up with this official statement:

We would like to clarify the information being circulated online regarding performances that happen in our malls.

We would like to reiterate that we promote all international and local entertainment acts in all our mall event areas nationwide. Moreover, we have been a proud supporter of the Filipino Talent as we promote many celebrity and movie mall tours as week long celebrations of Independence Day and Linggo ng Wika.

We are now looking into this matter carefully and will reach out to the concerned party. We apologize for any inconvenience this incident may have caused at this time.
