The not so good things in the Philippines

Talk about things other than video games. What are your other hobbies? What's your favorite TV show? Are you into sports. Any recommended restaurants? Do you travel?

the only benefit of pasko for me was back when i was still a student...pag nataong december ang finals or defense ng project, pinapasa na lang ako ng ibang prof ko thanks to the "spirit" of xmas. Walang nakaligtas sa diwa ng pasko.

on another note, one thing i dislike about spending pasko here...lumalabas ang kaplastikan ng mga tao...

recently napapansin ko ulit yung mga kotse na wala sa proper lane. yung tipong 3 lang kayong sasaskyan, 2 sa kaliwa and 1 sa kanan. kami yung nasa kanan. yung sinasaskayan ko will turn rightsa sususnod na kanto. tapos yung 2nd sa left na vehicle nag-cut sa harapan namin. tapos nag-red light sa next kanto... obviously, hindi sya kumanan. so dapat naming hintayin mag-green light para maka-right turn.

so yeah. mabagal yung sinasakyan ko. pero still wala sa ayus yung nag-cut. :P

^Tama, may kamaganak akong ganyan. "Favor gonna kill you faster than a bullet."

I see what you did there. hehehe

I despise the filipino obsession over titles. Dok, attorney, engineer, mayor, kapitan, prof, etc...

It's not a sign of respect. Moreover, it's not being disrespectful if you don't call them by their titles... except the ones in court.

^^ true

We know an American lawyer and prefers to be called only by his first name. Likewise for his other lawyers.

Could be a cultural thing. Even in companies, bosses are called by first name.

That’s culture. The Japanese has oniisan, oneesan. Sa Korea naman Hyung/Oppa, Noona/Unnie. You can never call them by their first name kung masmatanda sila sayo kahit isang taon lang ang agwat.

Sa Japan nga raw, kapag hindi pa kayo close ng 1 tao, hindi raw pwedeng tawagin by first name.

that obsession with titles nanggaling sa kastila. last year, may project kasi kami dati sa Spain so yung training about sa culture kasama yun. important na masabi mo yung title nila pero hindi naman kami ang humaharap kasi coding lang ang gingawa ko.

^ True. Kaya last name ang tawagan nila. Also, hindi mo pa nga raw pwede tawagin na may -kun (boys) or -chan(girls) ang first name nila kung hindi talaga close.

Sa mga tarpolin nila, kailangan ba may Hon. or Honorable then name?
What's so honorable? Dahil daw public servant sila? Pang may katungkulan lang ba yun at kailangan tawagin 'honorable"?
ugh!
