I wouldn't say it's like SE. The industry is different... really different. We do not have OPIs but you do get enrolled to an online diploma (often one that you will be supporting) that is certified by the Australian government.

Sobrang kulang ako sa man power. Anak ng tinapa! Hahaha!

Unsupportive power trippers talaga. Karamihan ng mga naging TL ko literally dont understand a single thing about leading a team. All they really care about are numbers.

In perness, madaling magka jowa sa industriyang to.

man, those were the times...and only good reason to come to work too....

Anyway, nung kababalik ko lang galing SG I tried going back to ortigas and ang dami na nagbago.

2 na experience ko sa ganyan, when JPMorgan Chase bolted from Sykes Asia & formed their own standalone operations (i was part of that transition team) & kelan lang, when Telstra also decided to have their own BPO offices here....

i think the proper term for that was buy-out.

3 lang BPO companies dito sa area namin sa Batangas...We have Teletech, Alorica & The Results Manila...Yung Results Manila, mga 2014 lang nagbukas but puro U.S. account sila & their offer is way higher than those 2 i mentioned earlier. & They also started "pirating" from those 2 companies...

Nakakamiss din ang annual appraisal based on performance...Been to a BPO before na SME/floorwalker lang sya pero basic nya mas mataas pa sa mismong TL...

You or your team have to prove that you're good enough just to get a recognition or even warrant a reason for the management to throw a "free lunch" incentive. Other than that, you're really just a number to them.

Numbers game nga, sabi...

A colleague once told me about a friend of his na sa call center din nagta trabaho..This guy apparently is somehow a loner, hindi sumasama sa mga team lunches, gimiks, etc...And siguro gusto rin makatulong sa magulang..I envy that guy...Sa 3-4 years nya sa call center industry, he was able to save up almost a million pesos & he gave those to his proud parents...

Sa industry din ito ako naka experience ng mag asawang SME & TL na kumuha ng car loan sa 1 prominent bank...Within a span of 1 & a half year, fully-paid na agad...

baka may prior nang ipon ang mga yan OR may mga sideline OR even nakahiram ng pera din pang down, mura na lang naman kasi ang pagkuha ng kotse ngayon, if you know how and where to look and who to ask, makaka diskwento ka ng malaki sa downpayment.

Looking back, I really am trying hard to think of any relatively good thing to say about the BPO industry dito sa pinas pero talagang wala. Sure its fun pero only if you LEARN how to make it worthwhile pero anything remotely about the lifestyle, workload and even the people in the long run wala talaga ko maisip. Masasabi ko pantawid gutom lang talaga ang industriyang to, hindi sya long term career na tipong looking forward ka pasukan araw-araw. Eto yung klase ng LOB na you will literally have to drag your ass every single day just to show up pero tanungin mo bawat isang ahente o empleyado sa floor, im sure ibang sagot ang makukuha mo . And im saying this from my own experience and perspective dito lang sa mga BPO sa pinas - and it doesnt exactly need to apply to others.
