Napunta ang usapan kung atheism can be a religion? Hehe. Ang hirap sagutin kasi wala naman silang sinasamba kung hindi paniniwala or theory lang ng mga scholars.

Natawa din ako kay VincH na ang hockey is religion sa canada. I think kung nakatutok at tumatakbo na lang ang buhay mo sa mga bagay like pera, jewely, car, sex, sports, or kung anuman iyon ... sa tingin ko obsession na iyon. Pero religion hindi siguro sa aking tingin.

Tanong ni parokyano yata kung si Heavenly Father is male. I believe male sya, kasi marriage is a sacred so for sure may purpose ang sex organ natin. Remember pag na resurrect na tayo .... magiging immortal na tayo, hindi na tayo mamatay because of eternal life. So for sure nandoon din iyong sex organ natin pag nabuhay tayong muli. Now the question is kung magkakaroon ba tayo ng mga eternal children sa kabilang buhay, puwede dahil meron parin male and female gender .... kaya ganon na lang ka-importante sa diyos ang marriage. Hindi ko lang alam kung lahat ba tayo may priviledge magkaroon ng eternal children, masasagot na lang yan pag nasa kabilang buhay na tayo. Medyo deep doctrine na kasi eto. Ang alam ko lang that our Heavenly Father cannot allow same sex relationship or pakikipagtalik sa same gender dito sa lupa ... lalong lalo na sa kabilang buhay ... because no unclean things can dwell in the presence of our lord. Kung ang live-in partner and sex before marriage hindi puwede ... lalong lalo na ang same sex relationship.

as what i believe in as a Catholic, God has no gender... He can be either a male or female and both genders were made based on His likeness in a human form... what makes God so different is He has limitless powers and we are just mere mortals... I believe He is called "Father" only because He presented Himself as "God the Father" from the trinity.

If there is a better explanation for this I would be very open for it.

well, in a way tama ka na. its not that He can be both male and female. God is perfect, therefore He is beyond human gender. He is revealed to be a Father and that is how we know Him. to make other conjectures is to betray God's revelation to man and make us presumptuous. so it is not right to call God as a Mother because He has never revealed Himself to us as a mother.

religion is not about having an object of worship. like I said, Buddhisim is a religion, wala rin naman silang gods. Buddha is not a god. Buddhas are human beings who have achieved enlightenment. they are not supreme beings but rather humans who were able to elevate themselves into a higher form of being.

atheism for many is indeed a religion. because they "practice" their belief that there is no god. they preach to other people that there is no god and convince other people, oftentimes forcefully, to accept their position. they have a set of things what you need to accept (or reject) to be an atheist.

totoo naman eh, anything can be a religion. this is the idolatry that is spoken of in the Bible. gods aren't just figures with human-like qualities, other people have money as their god. sex of course can also be one's god. when you serve something that you devote a huge part of your life to it, you make that thing your god. but they are all false gods. there is only one True and Living God.

well, see my answer above about God's gender. pero as a father myself, I see why God chose to reveal himself as a Father. although I can never be a father the way God is a father, but there are some similarities to this role.

Personally, I'm also an atheist but as much as possible, I don't want to disprove the beliefs of my family and friends or anyone. To be honest, I am happy that they are devoted to something and that they get their strength from their beliefs. In turn, they also don't question my stance in religion.. of course there's the usual "sama ka na samin simba!"once in a while, but i decline them respectfully. Ika nga sa character na pinoportray ni Tom Hanks sa Angels and Demons: "Faith is a gift, I just haven't received it yet."

well, tama ka diyan. its the loony fundamentalists who gives good, righteous devout Christians a bad name. problema today para sa karamihan ng tao eh ang tingin nila pag devout ka eh fundamentalist ka, and its either your a fundamentalist or a nominal Christian. natabunan na yung mga tao na nasa tama ang belief nila.
