We chose Spider-Man.” Insomniac was essentially given free range to choose where they wanted to focus their energy in the Marvel universe, and they landed on Marvel’s Spider-Man themselves, rather than having it assigned to them.

“For us we thought that, well I mean the truth is, this is a very story heavy game and as you guys know a lot of great games use time of day whether to communicate a certain feel vibe to the situation where you are in the story so we want to make sure that we were communicating a certain feeling to the player while they were first making their way through the main story.

That being said when you do finish the game you can actually change time of day and weather yourself manually.”

A black suit is available, but don’t expect to encounter and fight Symbiotes
Players will not be able to play outside of Manhattan, New York
Spider-Man does not take any damage when falling from high places
Players are allowed to change between several difficulty settings

According to them (Insomniac Games), they were given access to the actual CG assets from the upcoming film, allowing them to give players a faithfully recreated suit.
