Set roughly one year after the events of UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End, Chloe sets off to recover a fabled and valuable ancient Indian artifact. “I would say that Naughty Dog doing an Uncharted after this is unlikely. I would never say never, but we’ve got The Last of Us Part II on our plates and there’s so much other stuff that [we want to explore]. It’d be hard. If we magically had that two-team, three-team studio, sure – it’d be great to keep doing it. We really love the franchise, but the studio has limited resources and lots of other ideas. I’d say the likelihood is low.”

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Contains the Series’ Largest-Ever Level

...Naughty Dog confirms the level, which will take place in the Western Ghats mountain range in India, is bigger than the previously biggest-ever level for the series: the Madagascar level in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

“This is the single largest level we’ve ever done in Uncharted. Geographically, it’s much bigger than Madagascar, which was previously our largest level.”

“We have this really great location with the rural Western Ghats that allows us to get a true sense of exploration, unlike anything we’ve done before where the level design isn’t directing you exactly where to go.

Further, every area in The Lost Legacy will contain its own unique them. Specifically, the Western Ghats level will feature waterfalls, currents, mud climbs, and boulders, all stuff according to Cooper that is “really challenging to get around.” Thus the jeep from Uncharted 4 is poised for a return in the expansion, as well as its winch tool. Whether Nadine and Chloe’s banter about the winch tool can match the banter of Drake and Sully, well that remains to be seen.

Specifically, new details on the game’s antagonist, Asav, have been provided.

The Lost Legacy will star Asav as the antagonist. Asav is described as “a barrel-chested insurgent rebel leader who formerly worked for the government.” He’s said to be unearthing treasures, murals, and artifacts that are culturally significant to the region, and has several reasons behind his actions.

Years ago, when we were asked if we were ever doing a single player expansion for Uncharted we always said, ‘Well, we don’t have the self-discipline to do that’. If we tried to do that we’d create a full game. There’s no way we could, sort of, constrict and restrain ourselves, and that’s exactly what was happening here. When we were doing story pitches, we were coming up with a game that would be over ten hours long and so we suddenly realized everything we said was true and we couldn’t keep it short.
