Square Enix Thread

Let's talk about anything about video games, no matter what platform it is. What is your favorite game? Who is your favorite character? What are the recently released games? What is DLC (downloadable content)? How do I beat this boss? How do I set up my team?

para sa kin, ang magandang i-remake talaga yung mga naunang FF before X. Parang naging experimental sa SE siguro yung pag revive ng FFX kaya halos lahat ng modern platforms ginawan ng version, just to see on how it will work out. And seeing that it was successful, baka yan pa maging daan for its predecessors in seeing the light of being resurrected on modern systems.

^hindi lang chibi but polygon meshes pa ang gamit so re-rendering them to resemble like those models ng post FF7 games will take the devs more time pero madali na lang yun kasi they already got a baseline to work on - advent children. Retouching and applying skins na lang kelangan like hair, clothes, accessories, environment behavior sa damit/hair, lighting, etc.. so in a way, it will still take plenty of work to redesign everything. Di pa kasama dyan yung mga summons.

VI is one of my favorite games of all time and it would benefit immensely from the remake. That would be an unparalleled achievement considering it already is one of the best games ever made.
Current Top 5:

Digimon World: Next Order - Torment: Tides of Numenera - The Endless Cylinder - Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Persona 5

All Time Top 5:

Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete - Dark Cloud 2 - Deus Ex - Final Fantasy VI - Bloodborne

Back in December, Tai Yasue, the co-director of the Kingdom Hearts series revealed that both Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX & HD 2.5 ReMIX could make their way to PlayStation 4. However, in an interview with Ruliweb, Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the Kingdom Hearts series has stated there are no plans to do so.
Quote

Ruliweb: It's been two years since the first official announcement of Kingdom Hearts 3.

Nomura: Usually, most of the reactions from the KH fans and media consist of "Please put [this world] in the game!" (Laughs) Rather than comments on the game system itself, we get requests for "Put this world in, put my world in!" much more. Whichever world is a popular map should determine whether or not the masses will greatly enjoy Kingdom Hearts 3. Recently, we also received a significant increase in requests for the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix and Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix to be released on the PS4. Unfortunately, we don't have any plans for that.

The most likely reason for this appears to be that they do not want to delay Kingdom Hearts III, as both HD 1.5 ReMIX & HD 2.5 ReMIX were both developed by the Kingdom Hearts team for unknown reasons. Tai Yasue stated in the interview linked above that they did not want Kingdom Hearts III delayed. Another likely reason is that the PlayStation 4 requires all games to have digital versions while both HD 1.5 ReMIX & HD 2.5 ReMIX did not on PlayStation 3, likely due to licensing issues.

The enduring popularity of the original FF7:
“The original game was the first time in Final Fantasy that all of the creation of characters and environments was rendered in 3D. It was a time of big changes when we went from sprites to something more lifelike and in 3D, and it was just such an iconic moment. And we just packed so much playable content for players to experience, I feel that maybe that’s one of the great reasons that that game had such an impact on fans. We were able to create a new game-playing experience. And on top of that, the characters. Not only the transition of 2D to 3D polygons, just that their personalities were more drawn out, they were more human and you can attach emotionally to those characters.”

How 2005’s FF7 Advent Children movie has influenced the Remake:
“We’re creating new reference designs that are applicable to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but of course the world depicted in Advent Children is definitely a good reference to take a look at. But we don’t intend on utilising the 3D models of Advent Children as is because, well, it’s a different technology, and it’s actually been almost ten years since Advent Children was first released. We would probably use it as maybe a visual reference, but not exactly as you saw there.”

Making changes to the combat system:

“We are bringing dramatic changes to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake so we’re hoping that you’ll look forward to additional information that we’ll be able to release when the time comes. And of course, that being said we want to clarify: we’re not going to be changing it into a shooter or something like that. We are going to be bringing dramatic changes, but we want to make sure it’s still recognisable.”

â–  Square Enix Presents

The Square Enix Presents live show will host discussion about the latest Square Enix announcements, including the latest news, in-depth looks at Square Enix’s lineup, developer interviews, and exclusive live game demos. Square Enix teases “exciting guests from our Square Enix family,” some old and some new, but all with “really entertaining content to share.”

Square Enix presents will be live streamed on Twitch and YouTube.

â–  Square Enix Demos

The following games will have playable demos at the Square Enix booth in the Los Angeles convention center:

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Deus Ex: Human Revolution®, builds on the franchises trademark choice and consequence, action-RPG based gameplay, to create both a memorable and highly immersive experience. Players will once again take on the role of Adam Jensen, now an experienced covert agent, and will gain access to his new arsenal of customizable state-of-the-art weapons and augmentations. With time working against him, Adam must choose the right approach, along with who to trust, in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy.

Hitman

Our Episodic release of the latest Hitman game is in full steam and we’ll be releasing information about the third installment of our seven-part World of Assassination experience. We’ve previously shown Paris & Sapienza. What exciting destination will Agent 47 head to next?

Hitman is the sixth game in the blockbuster series and is the culmination of a journey started by Io-Interactive more than 17 years ago. It builds on the critically acclaimed and commercially successful foundation of games like Silent Assassin, Blood Money and the recent Hitman: Absolution.

Just Cause 3

Our newest Just Cause 3 DLC entitled the “Land Mech Assault” pack will be playable. Previously released DLC, “Sky Fortress,” took to the air as Rico Rodriguez got a massive upgrade to his wing suite. This latest DLC takes Rico’s chaos causing arsenal back to land where he’ll be able to take control of some devastating mechanized weapons.

The Mediterranean republic of Medici is suffering under the brutal control of General Di Ravello, a dictator with an insatiable appetite for power. Enter Rico Rodriguez, a man on a mission to destroy the General’s hold on power by any means necessary. With over 400 square miles of complete freedom from sky to seabed and a huge arsenal of weaponry, gadgets and vehicles, prepare to unleash chaos in the most creative and explosive ways you can imagine.

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness

With its upcoming launch of June 28th, fans will be able to play the fifth installment of this epic sci-fi RPG.

The latest chapter of the highly anticipated sci-fi role-playing game (RPG) series will be arriving in 2016. Developed by tri-Ace, the celebrated studio behind the Star Ocean series, and with character design by akiman (Akira Yasuda), the game is an epic adventure that introduces seamless transitions between gameplay and dynamic cut scenes, creating a new level of depth of immersive storytelling in video games.

I Am Setsuna

Our Tokyo RPG Factory’s first introduction to the gaming world, I Am Setsuna, is a homage to the the RPGs that paved the way for current generations of games and gamers.

Established in August 2014, Tokyo RPG Factory is a new studio within Square Enix specializing in Japanese RPGs. The studio revisits the ethos and practices used to develop for the 16-bit era and aims to re-introduce the classic JRPG style to current hardware, mixing the spirit of the past with technologies of today.

Taking inspiration from the golden era of JRPGs and their story telling, innovation and depth – the first title from the studio, I Am Setsuna, will arrive in Europe and North America in 2016.

â–  Square Enix Collective Demos

Square Enix Collective is Square Enix’s crowd funding initiative to help developers get their games out to the masses. Its will make its debut on the show floor of E3 this year with two playable demos.

The Turing Test

The Turing Test is a first person puzzler from the developers of Pneuma: Breath of Life that explores the phenomena of consciousness and challenges the meaning of human intuition. Take control of Ava Turing, an engineer for the International Space Agency (ISA), and progress through a narrated story of introspection and morality whilst uncovering the hidden mysteries of Europa. Delve into The Turing Test‘s human interaction puzzles and arm yourself with logical and methodical thinking. Take on tests designed in such a way that only a human could solve them. In an evolving story based on mankind’s inherent need to explore, protect and survive; players search deeper into Europa’s ice crusted core and transcend the line between man and machine.

Investigate the truth behind the ISA research base on Jupiter’s moon Europa. Solve puzzles using your Energy Manipulation Tool (EMT) to transfer power out from one object and into another. Power up and take control of artificially intelligent machines, manipulate giant structures and solve complex tasks; all woven into a multi-layered story based on the human struggle for control. The Turing Test can only be experienced through the interactive medium of video games.

The Turing Test sparks your synapses into action in this electrifying new first person puzzler, as players learn the true cost of retaining human morality.

Black The Fall

Black The Fall is an atmospheric game set-up in a communist dystopian era. Playing as Black, an obedient factory worker, you get one chance to outsmart the oppressive system, but the road to freedom is paved with puzzles, pitfalls and manipulation. A door malfunctions, an opportunity arises. Once out, what will you do to survive?
Square Enix says it has “some other exciting demos lined up on the show floor,” but will share them in its second “Road to E3” blog update, which will also feature “some exciting Tomb Raider news and details on a few new games” that Square Enix has been working on.

2017 marks the 30th anniversary of Final Fantasy, and it sounds like Square Enix has plenty in store for such a grand occasion. The Japanese publisher has said in the latest issue of Famitsu that it'll announce its plans "soon", but it's currently anyone's guess as to what those plans actually are.
It's worth noting that just last week, a rather ridiculous rumour surfaced stating that Square Enix will release the first episode of Final Fantasy VII Remake, a remastered Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, and a Final Fantasy collection - featuring every game from I to IX - next year. We're still not quite sold on that one, but we suppose that it all depends on how ambitious the publisher's plans are.
