Some early in-development screenshots have emerged for Shenmue III following its surprise Kickstarter campaign launched back at E3. The odd camera angles are apparently deliberate in order to eliminate potential spoilers.

The domain actually appears to have been registered in September 2016, and it seems to match with the fact that Sega mentioned in the past the will to explore ways to re-release the classic game.

That said, itâ€™s important to mention that a domain registration is in no shape or form a final confirmation that an HD remaster or remake of Shenmue is coming. It could very well be a preemptive move while the company explores the possibility.

In the meanwhile, Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki is still at work on Shenmue III independently from Sega, and just recently shared some new screenshots.

If the new domain is indeed an indication of an incoming HD remaster, itâ€™d be interesting to see if it might be released before the third chapter of the saga, that is scheduled to launch on PS4 and PC in December 2017.

Shenmue III is due out for PlayStation 4 and PC in the second half of 2018. It will be published both physically and digitally by Deep Silver.

Yu Suzuki Details How Shenmue III Combat Will Work

Suzuki also talked about a ton of other subjects in the full discussion, including the development surprises of using Unreal Engine 4:

â€œUsing Unreal Engine 4 has been a first for me, but it allowed for more conventional techniques than I expected which in turn also brought with it completely new efficiencies. Along with those two points, it has allowed us [to] bring the graphics quality past what I had first envisioned.â€

â€œThe thing that has been harder than expected for me has been using the engine as is. Because as someone who used to write everything from code, I want to see and t ouch whatâ€™s inside, but canâ€™t.â€
