Ok ba mga Tales of na RPG?
Dami kasi eh kaya feeling ko eh di gano pinagisipan yung plot. Baka RPG cliches lang with generic feel good plot kaya di pa ako nakaka-try. Parang Assassin's creed. May magandang isa o dalawa tapos puro basura na.
EDIT: I looked at the article and it does seem like the generic RPG, it has a full bio, which makes me doubt the uniqueness of story, if developers/publishers think it wise to release such details.

As a fan of the series, Tales is really good. Most Tales games have a unique and interesting plot. Each game deals with a specific theme, and one of my favorites is Tales of the Abyss, whose theme is "To Know the Meaning of One's Birth RPG". Tales of Rebirth, though a Japan-only game, has an interesting plot that deals with racism. It's not some reincarnation thing; Tales of Rebirth is about the rebirth of ideals.Oink McOink wrote:Ok ba mga Tales of na RPG?

If you want to know the meaning of each Tales game, check out this youtube video:
Series favorites are Symphonia, Vesperia, Abyss, and Xillia. I'd say Symphonia and Vesperia are highly overrated, but yes, they are good Tales games. If you want to play the old games, I'd highly recommend Phantasia (obviously) and Destiny. Phantasia has a good plot, though it may be considered repetitive or cliché or overused. We only got the GBA version, which was considered the worst version of the game. The SNES, PSX, and PSP versions are Japan-only. Destiny, again, has a good plot. We got the PSX version, which isn't all too bad, but sadly, we never got the PS2 Director's Cut version, which I think shows how emotional Destiny can become.
I don't think you should rely on reviews or petty details of the series. The series may be considered a niche title, but you can really see how profound the series is. It's not your typical JRPG like *ahem* Final Fantasy.
But yes, I must say that Zestiria was a letdown, despite being the 20th Anniversary title of the series.
My top three would be Abyss, Rebirth, and Symphonia. I would've put Destiny if I was only able to play the first game.
Anyway, if you're thinking of starting in the series, you'll probably just go with Symphonia, the most overrated and popular title in the series, which is available for the PS3, Gamecube, and PS2 (Japan-only). I'd like to recommend Abyss, but it's for the PS2 and 3DS only. If you don't care about the story, go with Graces f, which is considered the best Tales in terms of the battle system.
All in all, give the series a try. None of us will force you if the series can't take a shine on you.

Wow. Thanks for that. I'll go look if may mabibili pa ako sa top 3 na recommended nyo, if wala eh I know Xillia eh meron.
Well, I do care for the story, gameplay comes in second only. I haven't played much JRPG besides does that Square Enix makes.. and then there was Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch that completely made me hunger for JRPGs again but nothing stood out except the Tales series but with little to go on, I couldn't just pick one to try.

Well, for your info na lang:
1. Phantasia - SNES (JPN), PSX (JPN), GBA, PSP (JPN)
2. Destiny - PSX, PS2 (JPN)
3. Eternia - PSX, PSP (EU)
*note: the PSX version of Eternia was called Destiny II in the US due to copyright stuff
4. Destiny 2 - PS2 (JPN), PSP (JPN)
*note: real sequel to Destiny
5. Symphonia - Gamecube, PS2 (JPN), PS3, Steam
*note: its sequel was released for the Wii and PS3 (bundled along the first game), but it is not a mothership title; also, the Steam version is only for Windows
6. Rebirth - PS2 (JPN), PSP (JPN)
7. Legendia - PS2
8. Abyss - PS2, 3DS
9. Innocence - DS (JPN), PS Vita (JPN; called Innocence R; remake)
10. Vesperia - X360, PS3 (JPN)
*note: the PS3 version, which came about a few months after the X360 version came out, was not released outside Japan because Bamco signed a contract with Microsoft for Vesperia's X360-exclusivity, so unless Bamco is willing to pay tons of money, we won't get the PS3 version
11. Hearts - DS (JPN), PS Vita (remake; called "Hearts R"; worldwide)
12. Graces - Wii (JPN), PS3 (remake; called "Graces f"; worldwide)
13. Xillia - PS3
*fun fact: the first Tales game to be fully developed for the the PS3
14. Xillia 2 - PS3
*fun fact: the first Tales game to have a silent protagonist
15. Zestiria - PS3, PS4, Steam (outside Japan only)

I didn't list down the "escort" or spin-off titles, btw. Hope this helps you be introduced to the world of JRPGs. If you want a few recommendations for JRPGs, just hit me up

Again, wow.
From the looks of it, 12-16 lang pwede sa akin, yun ay kung may mahanap pa ako ng copy. May steam ako pero I find it cumbersome to use pag di FPS and I've ignored steam na after buying a PS3 and PS4.
I've played tons of JRPGs na di gawa ng Square Enix nung PS1 and some sa PS2. PS3/PS4 and above eh yun yung konti pa lang nalalaro ko talaga. I might have played a Tales game nung PS2 but it might not have left any impression on me because none of it ring any bells.
Sure, if you can recommend another PS3 JRPG that's not from SE and isn't Ni No Kuni, and has a very engrossing story and no little whiny protagonists, that would be great.

I think most Datablitz stores has the Tales games for the PS3, ranging from 995-1895 depending sa region and game. Call mo na lang sila, baka meron sila
For the others, mahirap makahanap ng copy, I think. Tales of Destiny for the PSX costs a whopping ~$400 in amazon, lol. If devoted ka sa series, then mag-emulate ka na TEXT SPEAK VIOLATION, though never ko pa na-try. But since bago ka pa TEXT SPEAK VIOLATION sa series, try mo na lang yung mga overrated favorites of the series, like Symphonia and Xillia. If nagustuhan mo, try mo TEXT SPEAK VIOLATION mga underrated gems ng series, like Phantasia and Rebirth.
Okay naman daw steam version ng Zestiria, so says my cousin. Symphonia, di daw okay, grabe daw bugs and glitches. I dunno if meron pa din, though.
If may PSN accounts k sa HK or JPN for your Vita, mabibili mo TEXT SPEAK VIOLATION Rebirth and Destiny 2, and maybe Phantasia X din.
Valkyria Chronicles - really good, imo; I like the setting din kasi
Eternal Sonata - not bad, I like the story and characters, though not as much as I loved Abyss, but ES might not be your type
Resonance of Fate - battle system is fun, but the story and characterization are a bit lacking, imo

Played the trial version from Japanese PSN
Mukang nakaka-adik yung battle system, gamit mo lahat X, O, square at triangle.
And also excited for the game's opening. Been a fan of FLOW since noon pa.
